HOW DID THIS ALL START?

It only takes a few people to make a huge difference!

Our first meeting took place in September 2009 when we met with the executive director of the Yellow Brick Shelter. They were looking for more people to get involved with their capital campaigning. We were very inspired and decided that we would launch a new foundation that would not only support Yellow Brick families but would work towards getting more community attention to this growing issue and thus the ‘raising awareness’ campaign was conceived.

OUR PURPOSE

The Moving Forward Foundation continues to raise awareness and funding through networking events throughout York Region. Funds raised are distributed to various programs or projects.

OUR MANDATE

To provide interest free micro loans to individuals and families, funds would be used to assist low income and at risk residents as they rebuild their lives in York Region

To focus on building a stronger community through awareness
and educational events that would bring to light such issues.

To evaluate the changing needs of the community and develop new programs and expand existing programs as needed.

To monitor and adapt accordingly to geographical areas where the need for the program is higher.

To build strong relationships though networking with other non-profit organizations and social service providers.
